friends, the year has ticked its way through and we have arrived. I am finished with my first year of seminary. I haven't forgotten about you all; I simply have been writing quite a lot these days! I’ve also decided to move from my old blogger platform to substack (more on that later).
my first year at seminary was eventful. I took 10 (I think?) classes, including Old Testament, Systematic Theology, Church History, and some fun classes such as “Bible, Myth and Superheroes,” “Theological Reflections on American Novels,” and “Camps, Conferences and Retreats.” I joined the campus LGBTQ+ group, the praise and worship team, and started working at the library this winter. I am stuffed to the brim with new wisdom and questions from my excellent professors and classmates here. I already have my class schedule set for the summer and fall, and I am so excited (if a little nervous to learn both Greek and Hebrew)!
I’m adding a link here to most of my bigger projects over this year. I am very proud of the work I've put in and I hope some of you might enjoy it. these projects all feel very connected to my future work and I hope I find myself returning to these themes regularly, because there is still so much more depth to be found in these fields. feel free to peruse and let me know what you think!
as I mentioned above, I felt like it was time to move to a platform with a bit more functionality for me, and one that enabled you all to get my posts in your inbox if you like. I’ve really enjoyed other people’s substacks too (check out D.L. Mayfield’s new one here!). if you’ve enjoyed my blog before, expect the same type of content from me here: poetry, theological thoughts, and whatever else is on my heart.
there is so much to be grateful for from this first year at seminary. the quality of teaching is excellent. the community is absolutely lovely here. working at the library on campus is a gift, and I love getting to be surrounded by so much wisdom. Mitchell and I have a wonderful apartment, a garden plot, bikes for commuting short distances and an electric car to commute to my field ed site next year. we are getting settled into our church community and enjoying meeting new people. the future is ever bright, dear heart.
glory to God.
